The Bureaus Weren’t Giving Me the Time of Day!
John Writes,
“I tried to take my credit dispute issues into my own hands, and sent all three credit bureaus a dispute letter. Experian responded with a letter telling me that the information sent to them was, ‘not sent by me,’ therefore they will be ‘taking no more action with regard to my request.’
This situation is common. Credit bureaus used “canned” responses to put off clients who could actually have a valid credit dispute.
The Fair Credit Act does protect the consumer by requiring proper ID be included with any dispute. Unfortunately, the bureaus often use this as a “stall tactic” so they don’t have to deal with your dispute.
There are some things that you can do in order to escape the constant merry-go-round of the dispute process.
How can I Get My Dispute Recognized and Taken Care Of?
Be careful not to dispute all items in one letter, and time your letters properly. You don’t want to send too many letters at once, which will result in your disputes being ignored.
You should also ensure to leave a paper trail. Online disputes are not always honored or answered, but certified mail will ensure your letters at least made it there.
If this still isn’t working for you, then you might want to consider using a third party credit repair agency with a good reputation, like Lexington Law Firm.
Lexington Law will work on your credit for you day and night, and will handle and respond all correpondence with credit bureaus on your behalf. They will also conduct debt validation, investigate inquiries, and more.
